Toyooka city is located in the northeastern part of Hyogo prefecture and is made up of six autonomies; Toyooka, Kinosaki, Takeno, Hidaka, Izushi, and Tanto, which were merged on April 1st, 2005.

Each community has its own features and individual characteristics.

Toyooka city has the largest area of any city in Hyogo prefecture, and in it there are several communities and personalities which are like shiny pearls. The citizens of Toyooka and I take good care of each shiny pearl to make a beautiful necklace.

Especially well taken care of is the Oriental White Stork, which is a national monument. The storks attract attention from inside and outside Japan with their return to the wild. This not only preserves wild animals, but it also wins sympathy for our city's theme, “Creating an environment and culture suitable for storks”.

We should like to continue striving to become a small cosmopolitan city that is respected and esteemed all over the world.
