Transition of Population in Toyooka city

	According to the legend, some parts of Toyooka were created by Amenohiboko who came from Shiragi in the Korean peninsula. It composed the central part of the Tajima-koku (the old name of a country). A government office and a government temple [ Tajima Kokubunji Temple ] were established in the Nara / the Heian period (710 ~ 1185).

Konosumiyama castle was built in Izushi as the main ground for Yamana who was prominent member of the shogunate and called “ Rokubuichidono” in Muromachi period. (1336 ~ 1573) It was moved to Arikoyama castle in the Age of Civil Wars.

Izushi and Toyooka prospered, because the castle was built in Izushi and a barracks for the domain of Kyogoku was built in Toyooka in Edo period （ 1603 ～ 1867 ） .

Toyooka prefecture which had control of Tajima, Tango, and a part of Tanba was established after abolishing domains and reforming prefectures in 1871. But Toyooka prefecture was abolished and consolidated into Hyogo prefecture in 1876. (Tango, and a county of Tanba was consolidated into Kyoto )

In 2005 one city and five towns (Toyooka city, Kinosaki-cho, Takeno-cho, Hidaka-cho, Izushi-cho, and Tanto-cho) were consolidated. This is the current Toyooka city.

As for the national roads, there are Route 178 which is crossing the north part, Route 482 which is crossing the south part, Route 312 and 426 which are connecting south to north.
As for the highways , Kita Kinki Toyooka Highway , which goes to Osaka , is in the planning stage. The Tottori, Toyooka, Miyazu Highway , which is crossing the north, is in progress.
There is the JR San-in Main Line as a railroad. This goes to Kyoto , Osaka , and Tottori directions. There is an another railroad called Kita Kinki Tango railroad. It goes to Miyazu in Kyoto prefecture from Toyooka station.
Kounotori Tajima airport was opened in May 1994. You can go to Osaka international airport in 35 minutes. It makes fast network to the whole country. .
